KPWD Exam Cutoff - Expected Cutoff

Karnataka Public Service Commission, through a notification, has released the dates for the KPWD AE and JE examination on its official website. The Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer examinations will be held on 13th and 14th December 2021. The Kannada (language) examination will be conducted on 15th December for both posts simultaneously. The KPSC will release the cutoff marks after the process of examination is concluded. Once released, candidates can check/ download the cutoff marks from the official website of the commission. This article will provide you with the KPWD Cut Off details, explore how to Calculate your tentative score through the cutoff, and other required information.

KPWD Cut Off

Cutoff marks are the marks that a candidate must score to qualify for the next stage of the selection process. Passing marks or the minimum marks required to clear the exam is not the same as the cutoff marks. The minimum marks required for passing are set much before the exams are conducted, but the cutoff marks are decided after the exam process is over. The cutoff marks change from year to year because several factors affect the process of determining the cutoff. The cutoff marks are set taking into account different factors like the number of candidates appearing for the Examination, Total Vacancies available, the Difficulty level of the Examination, and others.

Process To Check The KPWD Cut Off

The candidate can follow the below-mentioned steps to check the KPWD Cut Off.

Step 1: Visit the official website of the commission.
Step 2: On the home page, click on the Announcement link.
Step 3: Click on PWD AE and JE cutoff link to find the pdf open in a new tab.
Step 4: Download the KPWD Cut off pdf and save it to your system
Step 5: Take a printout for future reference.

Factors Affecting KPWD Cut Off Marks

No. Of Vacancies

The no. of vacancies available are an important factor in determining the cutoff marks. If the number of vacancies is high, the cutoff marks will be lower. If only a few vacancies are available, the cutoff marks will be high since the competition level will rise.

No. Of Candidates Appearing For The Exam.

The higher the no. of candidates taking the exam, the cutoff too will go up. If the no. of candidates appearing is less, then the cutoff will also be lower.

Difficulty Level Of The Exam

The level of difficulty of the question paper also affects the calculations of the cutoff marks. The more difficult the questions paper is, the lower the cutoff marks, whereas an easier question paper will result in higher cutoff marks.

No. Of Stages In The Selection Process

The number of stages in the selection process also has a major role in deciding the KPWD Cut Off. Fewer stages in the recruitment process will have a higher cutoff rate, whereas a higher number of stages will result in a lower cutoff.

Marks Exam Marking Scheme

  1. The examination will have 2 papers.
  2. General Paper will be for 200 marks
  3. The subject-specific paper will be for 200 marks.
  4. The examination has a total of 400 marks.
  5. There is no sectional Cutoff.
  6. Negative marking is applicable for every incorrect answer. A negative marking of  ¼ marks will be done.
  7. No marks will be awarded or deducted if you skip the question

Calculation Of KPWD Exam Marks Through The KPWD CutOff Marks

To calculate the KPWD Exam Marks for the written examination, candidates can follow the below steps:

Step 1: For every correct answer, add the marks alloted for the questions
Step 2: No marks are deducted for an unanswered question.
Step 3: Calculate the total number of wrong answers.
Step 4: Multiply the sum of wrong answers to 0.25
Step 5: Deduct the sum of Step 4 from Step 1.
Step 6: The remaining is your tentative marks.
